Redyns Hosts Product Development Instructional Course

Redyns Hosts Product Development Instructional Course Dr. Stephen J. Snyder participated in an instructional course at the Arthroscopy Association of North America’s (AANA) 2009 annual meeting in San Diego, California. The course, titled Protecting and Commercializing Your New Product Ideas introduced physicians to the entire product development process from idea generation to product monetization. Dr. Snyder was joined by panelists Mark Pandiscio, J.D., a seasoned medical device patent attorney and George J. Rohlinger, M.B.A., a medical device development executive with expertise in business development, contract negotiations and product commercialization.

Dr. Snyder began the course by sharing the source of his inspiration for some of the products he has developed. Mr. Rohlinger followed Dr. Snyder by describing many of the pathways available to physician inventors and what to do after they have come up with an idea. Mr. Pandiscio concluded by outlining a few basic principles of patent law and teaching the audience about the importance of non-disclosure agreements and provisional and non-provisional patent applications.

Given the extremely positive feedback this first course received from physicians in attendance, AANA invited Dr. Snyder, Mr. Pandiscio and Mr. Rohlinger to present a similar course at its 2010 meeting in Hollywood, Florida. The second course, titled Medical Device Development: Empowering the Physician-Inventor will be held in the morning on Sunday, May 23rd and is shaping up to be a course you will not want to miss.

Rated 3.90 out of 4.00 by physician attendees

"The product development instructional course lecture held at AANA in San Diego by Dr. Stephen Snyder, George Rohlinger, and Nate Snyder from Redyns Medical proved to be extremely useful for me. I have since developed 2 conceptual ideas with them and found the process incredibly beneficial.

The information provided at the ICL was a great step in understanding the risks and potential benefits of product development. The instructors' expertise and knowledge of the various components and steps of product development put me at ease. While I feel the I could have pushed forward with my ideas direct to the manufacturers after the course, working with Redyns later added much more understanding and value to the experience and to the development of a working product."

Physician Services Division Launched Redyns Medical Launches Physician Inventor Services Division

Redyns Medical LLC, the successful medical device development company officially launched its Physician Inventor Services division, a full-service agency that represents physician inventors as they navigate the new product development process.

Dr. Stephen Snyder co-founded Redyns Medical to create a resource for like-minded physician inventors. Having spent 25 years developing medical devices, Dr. Snyder learned to appreciate the challenges many full-time physicians face when trying to it go it alone. Recognizing that complex financial analysis, term sheets, and intellectual property development are better handled by MBAs rather than MDs, Dr. Snyder staffed Redyns Medical's Physician Inventor Services division with business-focused executives whose education and experience make them experts in the business side of device development.

Founded in 2005, Redyns Medical began providing value to physician inventors by helping Dr. Snyder work through his own new product concepts. After a short time, Redyns Medical successfully licensed ProWick(TM), Dr. Snyder's concept for a state-of-the-art post-operative dressing system, currently distributed worldwide by Arthrex. Encouraged by its success, Redyns Medical began helping other physician inventors with everything from strategy development (is my idea worth my investment) to designing and engineering prototypes. Over the years Redyns Medical has designed knotless suture anchors, suture passers, graspers and plates for itself or for its clients and has earned valuable experience pitching new technology to key industry decision makers.

According to Redyns Medical co-founder and Harvard MBA, George Rohlinger, "Much like patients relying on physician expertise to fix their shoulder or knee, physician-inventors should obtain expertise when attempting to navigate the dynamic, and often complex, world of medical device development. Far too often the 'go-it-alone' approach leads to sub-optimal outcomes and poor financial results. With over 60 successful product monetizations, the Redyns Medical team has the industry expertise and relationships to help physician-inventors advance their new product ideas into the marketplace."

Redyns Medical's Physician Inventor Services division was established to work with physician inventors up to and through the pitch and to maximize their new technology's opportunity for commercial success.
